Kevin
Kevin was an expatriate who came to live in Cyprus from the UK. We met Kevin as our next door neighbor. Our backyards share a fence with a gate in it which allows us easy access to visit each other. Kevin, at a later stage in his life, had decided he wanted to live out the rest of his days in sun drenched Cyprus living a life style very different from his work as a policeman in the UK.
He loved the Cypriot life, spending time outdoors constantly working in his and Jane’s large garden, keeping it beautifully manicured and tended. One of Kevin’s passions was golf. He often talked about his love for the game and the camaraderie he found at the golf club where he met Jane. Another of Kevin’s loves was his hobby of photography. He would take photos of Cypriot and village life. We are fortunate enough to have a couple of his black and white pictures hanging in our home.
Kevin and Jane got married in their backyard under the olive trees about 18 months ago. It was a beautiful wedding, attended by family in a perfect setting. Kevin had really built a wonderful life for himself under the Cypriot sun, he and Jane had the fortune to find new love and companionship. About four months after their wedding Kevin was diagnosed with oral cancer during fairly routine dental surgery. Unfortunately the cancer did not respond to chemotherapy and surgery and Kevin passed away eight months later, almost a year, to the day, after his marriage.
He was a people person, always happy to chat and share our common love for the Cyprus lifestyle. We all remember him dearly and miss him.
May his memory be a blessing.
